Alexander Wang Debuts Sneaker Inspired Clothing and Accessories Range
Recognizing the profound influence of sneaker culture within his generation, Alexander Wang pays homage to the ever-growing sneaker industry and its leading brands; including Nike, Air Jordan, adidas, Reebok and New Balance; with his Spring 2015 collection.
Following its debut at New York Fashion Week earlier this year, Wang's sneaker-inspired collection; comprised of luxe clothing items and high fashion accessory pieces; took centre stage, impressing a broad spectrum of high - and street - fashion aficionados.
Although the models wore high heels, clothing items with streamlined silhouettes and a clear athletic edge bore a striking resemblance to a handful of iconic sneaker models through their use of colour, prints, textiles and construction. Flared skirts, large perforations and bold green accents shouted to the infamous Stan Smith court shoe, while a blend of black and grey hues, with red accents and elephant print motifs, resembled the Air Jordan III “Black Cement”.
Along with the collection of immaculately crafted clothing pieces, Wang's range of sneaker inspired bags created a stir, seeing the clutch and sling versions don the same kick-like aesthetics. Sporting a collection of premium textiles, including stingray, leather and mesh, the bags feature familiar paneling construction and air bubble filled bases.
Following an already sold out preorder trunkshow through Moda Operandi, the full Alexander Wang collection will be available for purchase through the Alexander Wang online store during the course of 2015.
