Artist Fabian Oefner Slices up Vintage Cameras for Art
You might think it's crazy, but Fabian Oefener sees it as art. The Interdisciplinary artist recently showed off his latest work called CutUp, in the hopes of showing the inner workings of vintage cameras. The process starts with suspending the cameras in clear resin blocks.
To do this, he uses a "unique mix of high and low-end technologies", according to Fabian. He mainly relies on vacuum and pressure chambers that are capable of reaching distinct temperatures and atmospheric pressures. Pretty technical stuff. The solid blocks with the cameras inside are then sliced up with a saw and are polished. Lastly, the pieces of the camera and put into another mould in order for the sculpture to take its final shape.
