LEGO Releases DIY Large Wooden Figures

Similar to the DIY Kidrobot Dunny, LEGO have unveiled their latest product that isn't a box full of pieces and an instruction manual. Instead, everyone’s favourite building block brand has created a limited edition 5:1 upscaled wooden figure. This comes as a tribute to the original minifigure released in 1978, as well as the first released of their new nostalgic Originals range.

The larger minifigure is designed in partnership with Room Copenhagen, with the seven-inch-tall piece featuring an oak body, plastic hands reminiscent of current LEGO figures, and the LEGO logo on top of its head. So if you buy one you could keep it minimalist and leave it as is, or you could go HAM and customise every side of it.

The accompanying gift box includes a 28-page booklet explaining the history of LEGO’s iconic minifigure, as well as a few examples of how LEGO designers personalised their own wooden figures. 29 LEGO bricks are also included for some extra customisation options.

The LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure is currently available for about R1800 ($120) at the pop-up in Covent Garden, London, but it will see a global release on November 8. Cop it online here!

Hopefully it’ll make it to the shores of SA too!
