Luke Daniel Captures Fringe Communities

Luke Daniel describes himself as a social documentary photographer, focusing his lens on South African fringe communities isolated geographically or psychologically from conventional society. He captures these communities in such a way that he becomes one with his subject, allowing them to no longer just be a person in front of a camera, but one he has made a genuine connection with. Daniel aims to tell visually rich stories that engage the viewer in a way which enlightens and broadens perceptions surrounding the complexities of culture and ideas of belonging. His past work also includes a photo series with graffiti artist Falko, which took them across the country blending graffiti street art into the multifaceted smaller communities which span the country.
