Reselling sneakers online means big business these days. With sneakers being released in limited quantities than ever before, everyone from rappers to high-fashion designers are pledging allegiance to athletic footwear, and the internet and social media are driving sneaker hype to stratospheric new heights, the demand for limited edition kicks has never been greater.
Ask yourself this, how many of you have every bought a pair of sneakers on eBay? We’re pretty sure that 99.9% of you have. So whilst you’ve been browsing on eBay you’ve probably come across a reseller by the name of Sole Supremacy.
Sole Supremacy is one of the biggest sneaker resellers in the game right now. On average they make over $3 million a year selling used sneakers. Derek Lew, owner and founder of Sole Supremacy started his company back in '08 after losing his job. He needed a quick source of income so he started selling his sneakers from his own personal collection.
After a while Derek Lew started to notice that he was getting more money than he originally paid for his kicks, so he figured that there was a lot of people like himself that also needed cash and were probably selling their sneakers too. He figured out that he could buy used sneakers for a price, and flip them to make a profit – and thus Sole Supremacy was born.
Derek Lew went on to say that within the first 2 years of business majority of sales were made through eBay. However now several years later sales are 50/50 between his website and eBay.
