Nike Air Trainer 3 PRM "Bo Knows Horse Racing"
Nike fits the latest Air Trainer 3 PRM with a vibrant colourway that shouts to Nike's powerful heritage and the iconic Bo Knows television commercials.
First aired in 1989, during a commercial break within the 1989 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, the Bo Knows advert, created by leading advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy demonstrated not only Jackson's wide range of skills as a sportsman; as Jackson was the first athlete to play both professional baseball and football within the same year; but also the versatility and multifunctional nature of the Tinker Hatfield designed Nike Cross Trainer.
The first Bo Knows television ad featured an array of multi-disciplinary sports players all acknowledging Jackson's sports talent by stating the campaign title, "Bo Knows," and acknowledging their respective fields. Along with baseball player Kirk Gibson, quarterback Jim Everett, NBA star Michael Jordan and world-famous tennis pro John McEnroe, the commercial included a scene wherein Jackson attempts to play guitar with jazz and blues musician, Bo Diddley, who later comments,"Bo, you don't know diddley!" Shortly thereafter, a follow on commercial was released, wherein Jackson mastered the art of guitar playing, and shared a stage with Diddley.
Nike draws design inspiration from a subsequent Bo Knows advert; wherein a group of Bo Jacksons don an array of various sporting apparel; and uses the colour combination of Bo Jackson's jockey costume for the latest release of the Nike Air Trainer 3 “Bo Knows Horse Racing".
Sporting an all-over neutral upper, hues of grey are met with bright yellow and pink colour accents that detail various sections of the sneaker as well as the argyle print inner lining. Further shouting to Jackson's jockey costume and the Bo Knows media legacy, pixilated graphics rest on the insole, tongue and heel, denoting a horse and jockey motif and Bo Jackson's retired college number, respectively. Praised for its superior support from the inner bootie and adjustable foot strap, further comfort comes from the perforated panels along the upper which offer supreme ventilation, as well as the visible Air Unit in the heel for supreme cushioning.
The Nike Air Trainer 3 “Bo Knows Horse Racing" will be available soon; both in-store and online; from Shelflife.
