Nike Reveals Power-Lacing HyperAdapt 1.0
It’s finally here. After teaming up with Michael J. Fox to tease us with self-lacing Nike Mags on Back To The Future day in October, Nike has finally announced a mass production shoe that will feature real-life power laces.
Introducing the HyperAdapt 1.0, the very first example of what Nike is calling their “adaptive lacing” system.
Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield and Tiffany Beers, the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is the first performance vehicle for Nike’s latest platform breakthrough, adaptive lacing (self-tying) technology.
The shoe transforms deep research in digital, electrical and mechanical engineering into a product designed for movement. It challenges traditional understanding of fit, proposing an ultimate solution as a way to reduce a typical athlete concern, distraction.
"When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten. Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until its perfect," Nike Senior Innovator Tiffany Beers said.
The HyperAdapt 1.0 will debut later this year in three colourways, which you can preview below.
