Nintendo's Super Mario Theme Park is a Living Video Game

Announced in 2017, Super Nintendo World theme park is still on the cards for this year! Planned to coincide with 2020’s Summer Olympics in Japan, the first Nintendo theme park is set to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Instead of going the expected route with rides loosely based on the Italian Plumber and the rest of the gang, Nintendo are actually making the theme park into its own living video game.

Using wearable wrist bands called ‘Power Up Bands’ that sync with your smartphone, each person will have their progress tracked as they travel around the park, collecting coins, jumping on Mario blocks and even fighting bosses. The best part? They are even adding real-life Mario Kart! Other features include riding on Yoshi’s back and avoiding falling obstacles.
Nintendo released a new video yesterday in collaboration with Galantis and Charlie XCX, aimed at showing us a bit more of the park. While the music video is unfortunately primarily CGI, we do get a glimpse into the type of things people will be able to do. How all of this is achieved still needs to be seen though. See the video below!

Insider Kurumi Mori, who was at the press conference, has more info about the upcoming Super Nintendo World theme park. See her tweets below and check out those Power Bands!
