Painting Cape Town :: The Documentary
Inspired by the content of the hugely successful Painting Cape Town publication, acclaimed filmmaker Katey Carson began an exploration into the local graffiti scene, and together with a team of peer filmmakers, produced a 22-minute long documentary, also titled Painting Cape Town.
Transforming the publication’s anthology of images and interviews into a cinematic narrative, Painting Cape Town explores the graffiti scene through the eyes of its key players, juxtaposing a collection of interviews with acclaimed graffiti writers - such as Ekons, Wer, Play1 and Wealz130 - with attractive visuals of the Mother City. The documentary pays special attention to pioneering artist, Falko1, as he discusses the origins and development of the graffiti scene, and relays a treasury of his stories and experiences throughout the years.
A preview screening of Painting Cape Town will commence on Saturday the 24th of May at the Side Street Studios in Woodstock. For tickets, email [email protected].
