Its been a LONG time coming, and for years everyone has spoken about either releasing a book on South African graffiti, or the fact that someone should.
Here it finally is! Painting Cape Town, Graffiti from South Africa is the first book to cover the Cape Town graffiti scene in extensive detail, and is the first official graffiti book from South Africa! The book is focussed on interviews with over 20 of Cape Town’s most prolific and recognised graffiti writers such as Dek3 and Faith47. Including and in depth history section.
The author of the book, Matthew Olckers, started photographing Cape Town graffiti in 2007. He shared his photographs on a blog named PaintingTheTown. Through the blog he was able to make contact with graffiti artists in the city. Shelflife will be the official Publishers, and distributors.
