Riccardo Tisci x Nike Dunk Lux Chukka
Considering the publicity that surrounded Riccardo Tisci’s 2014 line of Air Force 1s, it comes as no surprise that Nike has recruited him once more to add his personal touch to a pair of sneakers. This time around, the Givenchy creative director will be focusing his attention on the Dunk Lux Chukka for NikeLab.
Inspired by Tisci’s interest in the aesthetics of skate culture and retro ‘80s basketball, the sneaker stays true to its original design ethos, although, exaggerated proportions are implemented, such as the enlarged Swoosh, in addition to the foxing and eyestay.
Comprised of full-grain leather for durability, the sneaker also features a removal of the toe perforations, rolled edges on the upper, RT logo and Nike swoosh debossed on the heel. Finally, a drop-in Lunarlon insole for ultra-soft cushioning and memory foam in the quilted leather collar and tongue finish off the sleek design.
Speaking on the new collaboration, Tisci noted “I think the Dunk has something that’s very special. It’s grounded in sport as well as in the street style culture. For younger generations it can fit as many different styles tribes as you can imagine. I think it’s one of the most iconic shoes that Nike has ever created.”
The Riccardo Tisci x Nike Dunk Lux Chukka pack are currently available in our JHB store, and will be dropping later this week in CPT and on shelflife.co.za for the retail price of R2999.00
