StockX, the Stock Market of Sneakers
StockX, the world’s first online consumer “stock market of things” for high-demand, limited edition products launched this week from Detroit, USA.
StockX features a live marketplace where contributors anonymously buy and sell limited edition consumer products (such as sneakers) with stock market-like visibility. Unlike traditional online auctions, the StockX exchange offers buyers and sellers historical price and volume metrics, real-time bids and offers, time-stamped trades, individualized portfolio tracking and analysis, as well as in-depth market analysis and news.
Buyers and sellers will experience the same certainty on StockX as a trader of IBM stock would experience on the New York Stock Exchange. The StockX exchange was built with the philosophy of providing an open, unbiased, visible and authentic platform.
StockX expects to have more than 15,000 pairs of limited release sneakers representing 3,500 models. StockX only allows unworn, preserved, original boxed sneakers known as “deadstock” to trade on its exchange. Buyers of sneakers on StockX will be assured of the authenticity of sneakers purchased on the exchange. StockX has developed a proprietary process to verify the authenticity of each pair of shoes traded on the platform. StockX will not settle trades until it has verified that the sneakers are 100 percent authentic.
