adidas Recouture Pack
Recouture is an experimental sneaker repair and restoration shop in Tokyo, founded by Shun Hirose. Refurbishing popular sneaker designs with outsoles and tooling from traditional shoe constructions, as well as customizing sneakers with new panelling and stylistic touches, Hirose is at the forefront of a new wave of sneaker customization and upcycling, exemplified by his recent work with adidas’ makerlab project, in which he created 333 pairs of Campus 80’s that sold out instantly.
Commonly referred to as the ‘mistake’, Hirose’s original Campus 80’s model was inspired by the idea of an error during a shoe construction, in which two distinctive elements are accidentally combined, creating a unique, clashing colorway. Three new colorways of the Campus 80’s silhouette bring this same ethos to life, colliding burgundy, navy and grey palettes across a single upper. A follow-up ‘correction’ release offers more traditional black and white colorways of the Campus 80’s, constructed to Hirose’s strict standards of quality and detail.
