Blondey x adidas Pro Model ADV
With his signature gold tooth, cropped curly hair, an assemblage of jewellery, worn dress shoes, shorts, and calf-length socks, Blondey McCoy's journey began on the skating ramps of Southbank, London. Alongside his innate talent for skating, one of Blondey’s most remarkable feats is his ability to blur the lines between art, fashion, and culture, which fuses English heritage with streetwear.
Skateboarder turned artist turned model turned fashion designer turned Youtuber turned everything in-between, Blondey McCoy has managed to carve out a unique space for himself in almost every industry he touches. In the skate world he is loved for his videos and has worked with Supreme and Palace. His art pieces have been exhibited in renowned galleries, and in the realm of fashion Blondey’s influence is equally profound, particularly his longstanding partnership with adidas and his brand Thames MMXX.
The Pro Model is one of adidas oldest silhouettes that has been largely unchanged for almost six decades. The newest adidas and Blondey McCoy collab puts a spin on a classic. "Making your own stuff from scratch is one thing," McCoy said. "But being trusted with another brand’s DNA, to build on a tried-and-tested formula, to pen a chapter or even a paragraph in a book like this- it’s a great responsibility."
The Blondey McCoy adidas Pro Model merges skate performance with an elevated aesthetic. Though colourless, the sneakers boldest feauture is its transparent upper- a detail that was initially featured on the Blondey and adidas Superstar collab from 2019. Unlike standard versions of the Pro Model, Blondey’s pairs also feature his name printed above the notorious Three Stripes branding. The sneaker is rounded off with the traditional shell toe.
Blondey stands as a vibrant reminder that true creativity knows no bounds and this sneaker is testament to that.
