Featured Designer 004: Flair Supply

Our Featured Designer Booth this month finds its source a few hours out of Cape Town with a brand that keeps a "fresh approach to clothing" - Flair Supply. Founded by Lungstar Mkhwanazi in Durban, Flair Supply is redefining streetwear with their infamous croissant pants, bubble skirts, interesting headwear and a collection of unisex items.

Inspired by Japanese minimalism, vintage corporate branding and sportswear, the brand’s genderless clothing offers timeless, universally appealing designs. Their philosophy is founded on simplicity, quality, and affordability—without compromising community relatability.

Throughout November our Featured Designer booth will be stocked with their latest pieces, alongside their key items like caps, bottoms, jackets and other outerwear designs. Each piece stays true to the brands ethos, striking a balance between understated high-quality items and their twist on global fashion.

Lungstar’s journey began from a need to bridge the gap between South African fashion and global trends seen online. He recalls the internet’s impact, especially Tumblr, in shaping Flair Supply’s essence. With the brand’s current slogan, "Made on Earth for Humans," Mkhwanazi envisioned a brand that felt more like a service than just a label, offering South Africans access to exclusive, high-quality streetwear with a fresh, minimalist aesthetic.

What sets Flair Supply apart is its attention to colour, cut, and craftsmanship. The brand avoids heavy graphics, leaning instead into understated designs that emphasize simplicity and high-quality materials. All garments are made in-house, and with limited production runs, each item becomes unique and exclusive. “If you snag it, you snag it; if not, you'll find something new next time” says Lungstar, which is oftentimes the allure of streetwear and which Flair Supply has mastered. Selecting the right materials is crucial to their design philosophy and the team takes up to three months per collection to find functional, durable fabrics that perfectly suit the South African climate. This attention to fabric reflects their commitment to both style and practicality, an approach that resonates deeply with their audience.

Creative collaboration lies at the heart of Flair Supply’s success. Lungstar works closely with his girlfriend and friends who double as models, photographers, and creative partners. The group comes together to produce elevated and interesting styling, using layering and texture, and truly showcasing the unisex nature of their pieces. Together, they form a family of like-minded creatives who bring Flair’s vision to life. From garment design to social media, Flair Supply’s extended network is central to its identity and community-driven approach.

Mkhwanazi’s vision extends beyond South Africa. His goal is for Flair Supply to become a globally recognised brand with stores worldwide. Driven by innovation and a deep connection to our local community, he aims to position Flair Supply as a leading force in global streetwear, putting South Africa on the map as a source of stylish, minimalist, and high-quality clothing, that pushes the bounds of fashion in some way.
