Feng Chen Wang x Converse 2-in-1 Chuck 70 Low
Since stealing the show at Shanghai Fashion Week in 2018, Feng Chen Wang and Converse have worked closely to build on their deconstructed, 2-in-1 Chuck 70. 2024 sees the return of this infamous sneaker, but this time arriving as a low-top.
The concept behind the sneaker originated over five years ago when Wang presented her interpretation of one of the most popular sneakers of all time during her 2019 New York Fashion Week show. According to Wang, “the bold concept converges form and style in a singular approach.” Similar to her previous interpretation of Converse’s design, the silhouette is “crafted with ‘two’ in mind.”
This drop keeps to the “‘two’ in mind” idea - half classic/half destructed build with the enhanced midsole rubber. Wang adds a pre-dirtied treatment to further imprint a certain style that appears from a post-apocalyptic future. The carefully curated design choices result in a final product that has a DIY aesthetic.
The Converse, available in two colourways- classic 'Egret Off-white' and 'Frog Green'- is adorned with several points of distressed detailing that include exposed stitching, cut marks and fraying. The shoe, which features a paired canvas overlay, double-layered foxing tape and a modified outsole, is split into four quadrants. This construction detail, aside from its interesting aesthetic, provides the wearer with an enhanced “flex” in their step. The look is complete with subtle detailing like Feng Chen Wang branding on the cream laces.
The Feng Chen Wang x Converse 2-in-1 Chuck 70 Low is available now in both the ‘Egret Off-white’ and ‘Frog Green’ colourway. Online only for R2899 each in UK6-UK11.
