Mita x adidas Radlander

The partnership between Mita and adidas began as an exploration of Japanese craftsmanship and storytelling 13 years ago with the release of the Campus 80s, most notably swapping the classic rubber sole for a corked look. Each collab release from the pair since then draws inspiration from cultural motifs and urban landscapes of Japan while bringing it in-line with street-style.

Mita is the oldest sneaker store in Tokyo, making it a cornerstone of Japanese streetwear since its inception. Renowned for its curated selection of sneakers and its uncanny ability to predict trends, Mita has cultivated a cult following beyond its borders. Under the guidance of creative lead Shigeyuki Kunii, Mita quickly evolved into not just a footwear store but a tastemaker within the global sneaker community.

In anticipation of their latest collaboration with adidas, in the form of the Mita x adidas Radlander, we took a look at some of the brands’ memorable collabs since 2012:

Mita x adidas Originals ‘Lawsuit’ (2013)

This striking reinterpretation of adidas' retro Lawsuit silhouette, originally called the Norton model, which was one of adidas Skateboarding's first shoes. The sneaker showcases a mix of premium materials, including soft green suede on the upper paired with white colour-blocking stripes that reflects Mita's signature style. The shoe also incorporates co-branded details, unique stitching, and reflective accents, blending adidas’ archival design with Mita's innovative Japanese streetwear influence.

Mita x adidas SEEULATER (2016)

Diving into adidas's outdoor archives, the SEEULATER collaboration brings a rugged, trail-inspired aesthetic to a casual footwear. Mita infuses premium materials with interesting colourways making the silhouette both functional and fashionable, a trend we’ve been seeing resurging over the past few years. Imagined with a navy blue and tan upper, with a denim-like cuff on the ankle, the mid-top silhouette rides on a heavily treaded sole which features speckled glow-in-the-dark paint details.

Mita x adidas Consotrium NMD R1 and Stan Smith (2018)

This capsule collection titled “Cages & Coordinates,” boasts two silhouettes – each referencing one half of the title.

The NMD R1 features a unique chain-link fence motif on the insole—a nod to Mita's store design—this sneaker encapsulated Tokyo’s gritty street culture. The reflective detailing and premium materials elevated the already iconic NMD silhouette.

The updated Stan Smith comes in an understated black colourway with a premium leather upper and a contrasting white sole. Other detail includes black heel tabs and side-zips, as well as white text across the tongue and heel. This text is the coordinates element of the capsule, with the numbers referencing the Mita store in Tokyo and the adidas headquarters in Germany.

Mita x adidas EQT CSG 91 (2021)

Celebrating the Equipment CSG 91’s 30th anniversary, adidas linked up with various retailers across the globe for collaborative takes of the infamous silhouette. Mita’s rendition takes inspiration from the euphoric “Runners High.” This is translated through a mosaic of purple, orange, green, red, and yellow mashed together to form a paint-like pattern across the overlays that rest on the mid-foot, forefoot and heels. Hits of brighter blue and purples also get brought to the table here, the former of which dresses the lateral stripes while the former takes care of the medial. Other significant design details to point out include the heels which split between an adidas logo on the left side and a Mita insignia on the right, as well as the cork-infused insoles.

Mita x adidas Samba ‘Ask’ (2024)

This take on one of adidas most iconic silhouettes gives the materials a total upgrade. The ‘Ask’ replaces the traditional smooth leather upper with premium ostrich leather build that's painted in a dark charcoal colour scheme. A hit of grey suede sits on the suede toebox, while the stripe details sidewalls are accented in a bold red.

Mita x adidas Radlander (2025)

The upcoming Mita x adidas Radlander silhouette takes cues from the iconic adidas outdoor silhouette from the '90s. Inspired by the original equipment range, it features a waterproof upper, protective lace flap to block debris, and premium suede upper. In true Mita fashion, the beauty is in the subtle details such as the neutral colourway and premium materials.

The Mita x adidas Radlander is dropping on the 24th of January, in-store and online for R3599 in UK7-UK10
