New Balance 'Grey Day' 2022
New Balance Grey Day celebrates the transcendent nature of grey and the enduring legacy of New Balance's classic running heritage. Grey is a colour synonymous with New Balance’s heritage and this year, the brand introduce bespoke iterations of the 327 and XC-72 in various grey hues.
New Balance XC-72
The future that the past envisions isn’t often the one that comes to be, but concept sketches and prototype designs from past decades serve as time capsules of those decades ’view of futurism.
The XC-72 takes that ‘past-future ’mindset and brings it to life in full fledged fashion by revamping sketches of 70s concept cars and combining their strikingly angular features with the sleekness and smoothness of the era’s slim running shoes. This is manifested in the XC-72’s chunky outsole and an elongated heel that give off a forceful look. Grey Day’s XC-72 features a wide variety of both light and dark grey shades brought together by black.
New Balance 327
New Balance’s 327 was created by combining the mindset of a 70s running shoe designer with the advanced tools and processes available to today’s designers. Inspired by old school models
like the 320 and the SuperComp, the 327’s trim upper is accented by asymmetric midsoles, wraparound trail outsoles, a forked embellishment on its toebox and an enlarged logo on the quarter. It’s the moodiest pair of the 2022 Grey Day pack, as Kaseumsouk refers to the colour application here as ‘a mix of dark tone greys’.
