Nike Dunk Low "Ultraman"
Love it or hate it, the Dunk is here to stay and is quickly approaching its 40th birthday. There’s no better way to celebrate four decades of this iconic silhouette than to go down memory lane.
25 years ago, Nike released a series of Japan-exclusive Nike Dunks dubbed the “City Attack” Pack. This featured a series of two-toned Dunks, which gained an “if you know, you know” cult following and rose to become one of the most sought after Asia-exclusives in Nike history. Amongst these Co.JP or Concept Of Japan releases was one of the most coveted sneakers of the time (and up until now)- the Nike Dunk Low “Ultraman.”
Dropping in 1999 exclusively in Japan and in limited quantity, the “Ultraman” colourway is returning for the first time since its initial release. Although the “Metallic Silver” and “Varsity Red” pair formed part of Nike’s VNTG collection in 2011, the offering has never returned in original form.
Remembered for its resemblance to the sci-fi character Ultraman from the 1960s Japanese anime, this Dunk Low was a reverse colour-blocking of the renowned 1985’s Be True To Your School red and grey UNLV Dunks.
This truly heritage sneaker features a bold red toe box, quarters and collars while the Swoosh and overlays will be covered in a muted grey. All in premium leather atop a crisp white sole.
