Partytime Playroom: Rising Star Competition Recap
This past weekend Partytime Playroom opened the floor to celebrate true passion and talent with the Rising Star Competition. In collaboration with us at Shelflife, Tunecore and Flame Studios the event saw ten new and emerging artists perform in front of a panel of judges, comprised of artists who have impacted the South African music industry.
Check out some of the day’s highlights, see the top 10, and hear more about everyones experiences below!
The Experience :
“The sun was out and the Rising Stars were shining. The intimate day time experience, which created a space for conversation, and community to connect more, was very much a highlighting factor for us and for the contestants to get to know each other, as well as chat to some of the industries faces who walked into the space with an open mind and heart. When the competition began, the room was filled with ambitious, hungry and eager energy- all the contestants were on time and ready to perform their best. Wacom Boys live mural installation created space for conversation, questions and ignited a creative spark to the space when you arrived, for the contestants and attendees to engage with. The judges were attentive, kind and honest. The crowd was inspired by the youthful energy and talent that was in the room. There was a respect between the contestants and their viewers who, although much older, were respectful and drawn to the experience of Rising Star. It really was a day for the youth.”- Partytime Playroom

Live Mural:
“I had the pleasure of handling a canvas mural at the Playroom event, so unfortunately did not get to witness the competition, performances and talents. However, people came up to ask me some stuff and chat to me, was awesome meeting every single one of them. Everyone was very supportive and genuine which was an amazing addition to all the hard work. There was just collaboration and co-existence in the air, a real good place to be. People exchanging details, networking and allowing each other a chance to share their arts. Enjoyed my time getting to know everyone and showing off my skills to such a supportive crowd. Playroom was a goodie”- Wacom Boy
