Smircs NFT Project Gears Up For A New Drop

It might feel like you see a new NFT project every day. While there are massive projects like the now-famous Bored Ape Yacht Club that have made collectors millionaires overnight, there are also tons of bad projects that try to mimic this success by copying the art or marketing styles. Smircs are different.

Besides looking extremely unique, the project leans into the new trend of hyper-realistic NFT art - a response to the pixel art style (as seen on CryptoPunks) and hand-drawn styles like the BAYC. The style is more akin to Hape Beast and Crypto Bull Society, but lightyears ahead.

The Smircs project is also non-generative, unlike a lot of the most famous NFT projects. A non-generative project means the artist creates features for each character, like a drooling mouth or big round eyes for example, and then an algorithm randomises the features and adds them to each character - some features being rarer than others. Made by artists @Combrisi and @Flatizy, Smircs are all themselves and while some may have similar themes, they don't share features like Punks and BAYC do.

Each purchase of a Smirc comes with a 10k resolution image of the artwork for you to zoom in on those details, but the real gain seems to come from the profits you could make.

Most Smircs start at a price of 0.2 ETH (around R8K), but scrolling through OpenSea.io, you'll soon realise these Smircs have been blowing up in price. One is even sitting at 169 ETH - that's a staggering R6.8 Million.  While that one Smirc is definitely an outlier, most Smircs have done 10x or more of the buyer's investment, which is causing the next drop to have even more hype.

The next Smirc release is slated for 26 February with some of the upcoming releases already featuring on their Instagram. Have a look at some of their past creations too and check out the prices on OpenSea. There's a Smirc to catch anyone's eye!
