Staff Picks: Stax
We started our Staff Picks series on our socials a few months ago as a way to introduce the team that makes Shelflife special. After many requests, we've expanded the series to include an interview with a new staff member every month. We kick things off with Stax from our Flagship store in JHB!
What did you choose for your staff pick and why?
I chose the Nike Presto, Nike x Stussy Fleece Pants, Shelflife Tag Logo Stripe Tee, The North Face Sightseer Jacket and Cuffed Beanie as well as the Carhartt WIP Picnic Blanket, Whisper Woven Blanket and Smile Mini Ashtray.
My reason for choosing these items is because I dress according to my mood and attitude for the day, also depending on what the occasion is.
My style is also very versatile, I don't like boxing myself up to one thing because I love dressing up. I just love putting colours together and items that other people didn't think could work. My mood and setting for this pick was inspired by a few things which are: footwear technology, functionality, hiking, camping, aesthetics and an overall subtle dad look.
How long have you been at Shelflife?
I've been at Shelflife since 2017 so I've been working for Shelflife for 4 years now. This will be my fifth year at SL.
Top 3 brands?
Biggest sleeper on the shelf right now?
The Reebok Answer 1 OG.
A trend in streetwear you aren’t feeling?
Hypebeast trend.
If you owned Shelflife for a day, what would you change?
I honestly wouldn't change much as it has already positioned itself well in the market but I would rather make sure I scale it up more and more and keep to the premium standard.
Favourite item to ever release through Shelflife doors?
Nike Foamposite Pro Fleece.
The biggest misconception about working at Shelflife?
Sometimes people think Shelflife is just a space for cool people to socialise. Some think it's just a space where you might not have to do much but just be in the space and be cool, whereas that is not the case. With anything you do and want to go forward with, you have to work hard for it.
