What began as a simple idea, like all great things, grew into a movement. Seeing and experiencing the impact, we kept pushing forward to show the youth that anything is possible when you set your mind to it. We’re here to bridge the gap, making all the knowledge we gather accessible, so that the next generation can rise even higher. It’s about transcendence through enlightenment - living in a way that uplifts everyone around you.”

THE 2024 SHYNE CUP

This tournament is a continuation of SHYNE’s ongoing effort to bring people together, which is a sentiment carried throughout SHYNE’s events like picnic and days, screen printing workshops and parties. These events were designed to foster connection, creativity and shared experiences, and the SHYNE CUP is no different.

Community and football naturally go hand in hand, and as a movement deeply rooted in love and togetherness, it made perfect sense to create a space where the love for the beautiful game can flourish. By hosting this soccer tournament, SHYNE aims to further strengthen the bonds within our community, providing a special, inclusive, and joyful experience for everyone involved.

The SHYNE CUP was born out of a desire to give people the opportunity to be part of something meaningful, where they can enjoy the unity that football naturally brings, all while continuing the spirit of togetherness that SHYNE stands for.

Keeping true to the spirit of community, entry to the tournament was free to ensure accessibility for everyone, allowing anyone to participate. Entrants were required to complete an admissions form, letting the team selection committee connect with the teams, understand them better, and keep them engaged.

The tournament also includes a cash prize for the winners and other amazing prizes for second and third place.

Kasi flavour, from the townships to the urban turfs of cape town. Playing with the same mindset our movement stands for, a bond of brotherhood and an education of self, through conversation, vulnerability and teamwork.

Our team best is bliss, as to how exhilaration, passion filled and fun we all are together as a team.

ATHLETIC MOWBRAY

Athletic Mowbray represents both Tekkers and Mowbray. We don't fuck around when it comes to fives. It's our culture. Every Sunday. Church in the morning? Don't forget to pack your boots. Hiking up Lions Head? Wear your footy kit. From Tekkers to Fat Cactus to beers at Bistro after the game, we are Athletic Mowbray.



NIGHT OWL FC

A rag tag bunch of obsessive soccer fans, night-hour explorers and full time 'lifers putting in the work everyday to realise their dreams on the pitch and off.



RECEBA FC

Introducing RECEBA FC, a 5-a-side football team born from a shared passion for the beautiful game. This team is all about skill, creativity and flowing football. Making their debut in the Shyne Cup, RECEBA FC is eager to show their flair this coming Sunday.



SOUTHSIDE WANDERERS

A family team with great chemistry.



No football game would be complete without the supporters and so the day is open to anyone who wants to come through, watch some good football and celebrate the communities we’re all a part of.

There will be food vendors accepting cash and card available on the day, selling tea, coffee, koeksisters, boerewors rolls, iced tea, and water.

SHYNE also has official merch that is currently on sale which will also be available for purchase at the tournament for R350.
