'The Eames Office: 80 Years of Design': Exhibition Celebrates the Studio's Timeless Design
In commemoration of the establishment of the “Eames Office” founded by one of the most important designer duos, Charles and Ray Eames — known for their iconic chairs and influence on 20th-century product design, an exhibition has open in Tokyo, Japan. This ties in with the Reebok x Eames Club C release that took place earlier this year with a second drop rumoured for early 2020.
The exhibition follows in fashion with the first initial debut of the concept where one could find vintage products, reprints of Mr. and Mrs. Eames, special projects and collaborations. There are four sections namely the “Eames House” which looks into the couple’s own residence, “Architecture & Interiors,” “Art & Technology” which introduces their sculptures and furniture works and “Play & Learn” for products that give a sense of playfulness and curiosity. A separate area entitled “Connections 1941-2021” provides a full history of the iconic space.
Item exhibited include the Reebok CLUB C 85 collaboration, a limited edition 1943 Plywood Sculpture which will be up for sale, tables, skateboards and more. 90 products divided into pre-sale and limited-sale items such as books and interior goods are also up for grabs for interested parties.
“The Eames Office: 80 Years of Design” exhibition will open to the public from November 5 to January 5.
