Tiffany & Co. Release a R2.2 Million Advent Calendar

Tiffany & Co. is following up on their first advent calendar from 2019 with a new iteration that features Jean-Michel Basquiat‘s iconic Equals Pi painting (1982). This is the same seldom-seen artwork that was recently spotted with Beyoncé and Jay-Z for an advert with Tiffany & Co.

The classic advent calendar - which are typically used to count down the days till Christmas, with each day unraveling a new gift, is given a seriously luxurious spin by the jewellery brand. It’s not clear as to what the gifts will be, but going off the 2019 calendar, Tiffany’s included 18k Gold Triple Drop Earrings (R68k), a Sterling Silver Harmonica (R10k), and much more.

It's not all just exorbitant Christmas-themed flexing though. Tiffany & Co. are also using their advent calendars to give back. The numbered calendars may sell for a staggering R2.2 million ($150,000 USD), but the luxury jeweler has stated it will donate R3.7 Million ($250,000 USD) from the proceeds to Free Arts NYC — a nonprofit organization that provides art and guidance to underserved communities.
